Canadian Patent Issued on HeRO™ Technology October 23, 2008 - Charlottesville, VA: Medical Predictive Science Corporation (MPSC) announced that the Canadian Intellectual Property office has issued Patent #2324078 protecting the Heart Rate Characteristics technology used in the HeRO™ System. The issuance of this patent further extends the international reach of the intellectual property protection already granted on this technology in the United States and the European Union. Founded in 2002, MPSC has developed the Heart Rate Observation System (HeRO™) utilizing Heart Rate Characteristics technologies invented at the University of Virginia, licensed exclusively to MPSC. In the US, HeRO received its first 510(k) clearance from FDA in 2003. HeRO™ is a noninvasive real-time monitoring system used in the NICU to analyze heart rate patterns for the purposes of identifying transient decelerations and reduced baseline variability. "This additional intellectual property protection of the HeRO technology further evidences the unique and innovative product that MPSC has brought to market," said MPSC CEO Will King. "We look to enter markets outside of the initial U.S. market as quickly as possible."
