Greenville Hospital System Joins HeRO™ Patient Outcomes Study

October 31, 2008- Charlottesville, VA. Medical Predictive Science Corporation (MPSC) has announced that Greenville Hospital System has begun enrolling patients in the ongoing clinical trial evaluating outcomes of patients with the benefit of the HeRO™ System.  This clinical trial, which is designed to provide data in support of evidence based medicine, is sponsored by the NIH at three academic centers and by MPSC at Greenville Hospital System.

The HeRO™ System analyzes the heart rate variability of newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to detect abnormal patterns, such as reduced baseline variability and transient decelerations. The HeRO System then displays to the physicians and other heatlh care professionals a HeRO Score that quantifies the degree of abnormality.

The research study, funded by the National Institutes of Health and MPSC, attempts to quantify the effects of making the HeRO™ scores available to caregivers in the NICU.  The outcomes being measured include hospital days without ventilator support, length of stay, and antibiotic usage.
